Yet another status update. I am looking at the second or third weekend in October to get the game actually started.

Currently we have the following classes covered:
Bard, Ranger, cleric (shaman) and rogue.

Potentially we have one or two people interested in playing mages or sorcerers of some type.

Still looking for a front-line tank if anyone is interested in playing that, otherwise the poor ranger will be in that position.

There are still another 4 or 5 people that have expressed keen interest but haven't given me any character information, not even what they might want to play.

So, feel free to ask around and see if anyone else might be interested and just point them to here or to the myspace group, or ask them to give me an email so we can get their character generation started.

Thanks! I am really looking forward to this!

Status update!
Yay! Dragon*Con is over so now we can get back to the issue of getting this group off the ground!

Game system: Dungeons and Dragons, version 3.5.

Campaign setting will be a homebrew world (so you don't really know what to expect, except to say that there will be no Elminsters or similarly broken NPCs)

Characters: I would prefer to stay with the core races, though you can try to sell me on other races & classes if you like. I will most likely start everyone off with Level 3 characters to make party survival more likely (I tend to be somewhat aggressive in my campaigns, I like challenging players).

3rd level characters start off with 2,700 gold pieces, which you can spend as you like, save for magical items. After you submit your characters to me via email I will give each character one low level magical item that I feel is suitable for the character and will not destabilize the game or the party's ECL.

NOTE: We currently have several interested players, but so far only four have given me their character ideas. At present we have: 1 Rogue, 1 Bard, 1 Cleric and 1 Ranger.

You can find a wonderful javascript online generator here: http://www.pathguy.com/cg35.htm

When rolling up a character using the generator, please select the "tougher campaign" setting for dice rolling. Roll twice, record each set, select which set you want to keep and assign values accordingly.

For races, please select either human or demihuman. You may select Warforged from the Eberron setting if you like, as they are balanced for any campaign setting anyway.

NOTE: If you choose a race with an ECL (equivalent character level) of higher than two (which there are precious few...) be prepared to start off with negative experience to maintain balance with the other characters who choose races without an ECL. Also, please clear any non-standard races with me prior to character creation.

When you are done with your character, please copy and paste it into a word doc and email it to me at justamessenger74 at gmail dot com.

Update Numero Uno!
Alright, due to popular opinion, we will be using Dungeons and Dragons, version 3.5. Probable campaign settings (in order of likelihood): 1) Homebrew world that I had designed and originally submtted to WotC back a few years ago when they had the competition for a new setting; 2) Forgotten Realms (simply due to my familiarity with it); 3) Eberron; and 4) Greyhawk (which has always been my least favorite, for whatever reason, perhaps doing the Temple of Elemental Evil modules far too many times to recall..).

Characters: I would prefer to stay with the core races, though you can try to sell me on other races & classes if you like. I will most likely start everyone off with Level 3 characters to make partysurvival more likely (I tend to be somewhat aggressive in my campaigns, I like challenging players).

We aren't scheduled to kick off until sometime after D*C, so it won't interfere with your plans hopefully.

Welcome!!!
Yes, a new community just for us weirdos that like to play RPGs and also enjoy the darker side of things...

This is primarily focused on getting my own group started, given the number of you guys that have expressed an interest. I am shooting for after D*C, so maybe September or October for a start time. I am interested in hearing from you about which system(s) and/or settings you want to start off with.

Anyone can join! Everyone is invited! The more the merrier and all that...

Also, there is a myspace group for any of you that wish to join and/or keep in touch there also: http://groups.myspace.com/atlgothsandgeeks
